Mywebpal announced today that it has not only completed an important piece of technology for MSNBC, but has entered into an agreement to provide ongoing publishing services for the online news giant.
MSNBC came to Mywebpal in January looking for a partner to help populate its local news areas with content from small and medium size papers across the US. The process, which employs an XML feed from the source paper, had its complications.
"Before we started working with Mywebpal, we had no way of XML feeding from a Macintosh operating system, which is a prevalent system in the publishing field. Mywebpal designed, programmed, and implemented a system that allows our partners to complete this task, and we are very happy with the outcome," said Uli Haller; head of the MSNBC affiliate services.
The MSNBC affiliate service allows local papers to upload abstracts and target users from the MSNBC site back to their local paper site.
Based on the positive response from local newspapers regarding the new XML technology, MSNBC subsequently chose Mywebpal as the solution of choice for any paper it encounters shopping for tools to get online. The Mywebpal product for newspapers includes the MSNBC service as part of its turnkey solution.
Patrick Carman, president of Mywebpal, said "Our relationship with MSNBC further establishes us as a major player in the online newspaper publishing market. We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the MSNBC XML tools from both our own customers and MSNBC affiliates."
